PORTFOLIO
Unfortunately, most of my web development efforts for the last 5 years have been for intranet or proprietary purposes, and are located behind firewalls and/or passwords. Therefore, I am unable to post them here. And the web site I developed for the Human Centrifuge DFS went the way of the facility itself, which was closed by the BRACC in 1996. The march of "progress" cannot be ignored...
All of the applications that I've developed are listed on my resume page, and some of my more interesting, and non-proprietary (and fun) applications are available for fooling around with on my Toys page.
Since I have only recently struck out on my own, my current list of publicly accessible web sites is rather small (but growing). Listed below are web sites that I have completed, or are currently under development.

- The Philadelphia Shutter Company: The Philadelphia Shutter Company is a new business in Temple, Pa, that specializes in 18th and 19th century American wooden shutters. The focal point of this web site is the Shutter Builder, a little widget that allows a user to enter the shutter dimensions and click a button to see a quick representation of what the shutter would look like. The Shutter Builder shows rectangular and arch shaped in the panel, louver, board and batten, and combination styles. It will show splits as well. It will also display a price when you click the button to see your selection. There is a shopping cart for generating quotes and sales orders. These quotes/orders can be emailed or printed out and faxed. This site includes a backoffice that provides the owner with control over content and data that are displayed on the site.

- The Acoustic Roadshow: The Acoustic roadshow is a local Berks County organization whose mission is to support and encourage the development of musical talent. The proprietor is a very busy man who has little time to spend updating web pages. This web site was designed to maximize his ability to keep his web site fresh and up-to-date, while minimizing the amount of time he has to spend in doing so. The web site comes with a full back end that enables him to update his schedules, perfomers, venues, news, and all other data on the site.

|
- Ridley High School Class of 1974: Ridleyclassof74.com has a member login, with multi-layered administration security. Administrators can be assigned to different security levels, with different levels of access based on their administrator status. The administrator can set up surveys, add news items, upload photos for the scrapbook, edit reunion information, send bulk emails, check member status, and download compiled information about members, for use in reunion publications. Some areas of the site are open to the public, but registered members have access to all features, and can create their own profiles, fill out surveys, upload a photo of themselves, and view information about other members. All members have the ability to keep their data private.

- Maiden Creek Marine and RV Sales: MaidencreekMarine.com has a full backoffice that enables the owners to make changes to all of the data on their web site - including the image in the upper left corner of every page. All of the backoffice updates are handled through web forms that can be accessed through any browser on any computer. No special software is required to update the content of the site, so it is easy for the owners to keep the site content fresh.

- Dean Smith Music - BMI: Dean Smith is a local musician and songwriter. He currently has two CDs, with a third one in the works. He teaches songwriting, production, and guitar at Meadowood Music in Kutztown, PA. Check out his web site for more information, his performing schedule, and samples of his music.
Dean Smith Music is a databased web site, so maintenance is easy. Dean chose not to have the web form administration function added to his site, but updates are still simple: all he has to do is add, modify, and delete records in the database.

- Shaanta: This web site is designed as a meeting place for members of a Yoga Instructors' class, to enable them to keep in touch, share ideas, and swap photos and news. The site is set up to enable the site owner to update the different areas of the site without having to download, edit, and upload files. Since the site is database driven, all she has to do is fill out web forms to update the database.

- Meadowood Music: This is a very wonderful music store in Kutztown, PA, that specializes in bluegrass instrument sales, repairs, and instruction. The proprietors, Mike Andrews and Paula Taylor, are very friendly people who know a LOT about musical instruments. If you are in the area (or plan to visit), and are in the market for a bluegrass instrument, or just want to visit a great store, drop by Meadowood Music. Check the Meadowood web site for contact information and directions.
The web site was designed with ease of maintenance and user accessibility in mind. On the site's front page, users can change the color scheme, add a background motif, or turn font styles on and off. For the proprietor, changes to the site's content are made through the use of web forms. No downloading and uploading is required, and she can make changes from any computer.
